I like Parrot Fish because they have a lovely orange colour and cute faces. By all their gravel digging and rearranging the tank decorations, it is very entertaining to watch them.

They do a wonderful job of rearranging the tank while their owner is watching. After their evil work is done, they will come to the front of the aquarium and smile at you! They are a very peaceful fish and very easy to keep.

I used to have a large fw tank with a few guppies etc. - then I got hooked on 'Sailfin Mollies' and started to try to breed back to the 'widtype'. (I also did this with the guppies). Later I added a catfish and a sucking-loach to do the 'housekeeping'. The weed and fry fed the fish - but snails became a problem so I added a 'puffer' to eat them.
The whole thing remained stable for two years (I did nothing except watch them!) - until I moved from Manchester to the Outer Hebrides (Isle of Harris). I gave the tank away and lost contact.
'Sailfin Mollies' - wildtype - must be my favourite aquarium fish. (Grayling are my favourite sportfish). Maybe I just have a 'thing' about large dorsal fins :-)

I've always liked sailfin mollies and guppies. But again, like you John, I perferred the wild ones.Even when I was doing African Cichlids, I just had to have wild ones. I found with sailfins, it depended on my salt levels if I was successful with them.

Yes-the salt concentration is an important factor. I forgot to mention that I ensured my tank was 'brackish'. (I don't remember the exact salinity I aimed for :-( ).
