How these three ways of studying biology work together to give a modern appreciation of life on earth.

I have now written enough articles to feel able to begin addressing some of the bigger issues in modern biology by referring to my own stuff.

I hope that some of what I have written about the effects that we are having on our environment, or the way we should look at the vectors of diseases, will lead to discussion.

I am sure that my own views on evolution will be controversial to some people, and I hope that they will use the opportunity to enter into debate. You will notice that I have already started this discussion off, but defending myself before I get attacked :-)

My article on anthropomorphism is also likely ruffle a few feathers, and again I would welcome discussion on just which animals (if any other than ourselves) are truly conscious. I am not going to state my own position on this yet, but it is true that some biologists believe that all animals are automata and that only humans are conscious. I'm not saying that's what I believe, but then I'm not saying anything about it ..... yet.

And, of course, if you think that I have missed out any of the 'Big Issues' in modern biology - then let me know!
