I explain my choice of article topics so far, and ask readers to let me know what they would like me to write about in the future.

I have conducted a poll on Suite101, and everyone who has taken part would like me to interpret ‘insects’ as anything ‘creepy-crawly’, in other words I feel free to cover all the invertebrates.. The term ‘Fish’ is not a taxonomic one, so I already felt free to interpret it as ‘anything fishy’!.

My insect articles illustrate the facts that: ‘small and boring’ (silverfish) can in fact be surprisingly interesting; nice names can mean nasty beasties (Kissing Bugs) and (The Harlequin); and well-known insects can still hold secrets (Red Admirals and Hummingbird Hawk moths). And some insects (such as bees) are really important.

Three of my fish articles have been slightly ‘quirky’ with a traditional festival (Mattanza), a living fossil (Old four-legs) and a fish that sings (the humming toadfish), while the fourth and fifth are a more conventional look at a game-fish (Grayling) and (Muskies).

My later articles will look at some of the 'big ideas' of Biology.

I am very keen to write about things that people actually want to read, and I will try to respond to specific requests. You can see what else I have written and then email me directly from here.
